MORE OF CLAIRE WALKING

There was a request for more video of Claire walking. She has improved so much in the past couple of weeks.

It has been awhile since we have updated our blog. Claire and Alley got to spend a week with Grandma Erlys and Papa Charlie and Grandma Helen - while Rob and I took a trip to Hawaii to go to a friend's wedding. I am sure they were spoiled the whole time. Claire apparently really missed us at the beginning of the week. But when we came home - she just gave us a dirty look.

We unfortunately missed Halloween - but the grandparents took the kids to a few house in the neighborhood and they went to a party at our daycare. Claire was a monkey - a hand me down from Alley from last year. I figure she really doesn't get it yet - so we'll worry about fancier costumes when they get older.

Claire is really walking now - but very wobbly. She always has her hands up above her head - like there are invisible hands helping her walk. She seems pretty proud of herself. She certainly is not agile though and falls over - even from something simple like making a turn.

She must be getting more teeth - as she has been drooling so badly lately. The other day - she drooled through 3 bibs and 2 shirts and by the end of the day - that last shirt was soaked. I always wondered why some parents had their kid wear a bib all day - now I know why.

CLAIRE'S STUMBLING FIRST STEPS

Claire made her first stumbling first steps this morning. This was good thing as Mom and Dad are about to leave for vacation without her, and we did not want to have tell the grandparents to push her down so we did not miss the moment. Of course by the time we got the camera out she was a little tired of using her new found ability.

Claire and I went to our neigborhood's annual party. There was face painting - Claire was good enough to sit still for a panda to be painted on her face. We also took a hayride around Aquila park. Alley's nap was the same time as the party - so she unfortunately missed it.

Claire continues to stand by herself - but not taking any steps on her own. My mom was here recently and since then she has been saying Momma - which her grandma practiced with her. She is imitating sounds more too - today she said Beep Beep when we were playing with cars. Her favorite word is UhOh.

Apple picking 2008

Claire probably doesn't remember apple picking last year, as she was only a few weeks old and I carried her in the baby bjorn.

She seemed really interested in all of it - but wasn't quite able to pick her own apple. She did however try to sample them and later when we went raspberry picking - she ate her fill of those.

Claire is now standing on her own. Still tentative to walk though. We are still working on the sign language - she seem to consistently use "milk". We love to have her do more - so the screaming can stop!
